Your Exit Strategy
With this business, I expect to sell it within a few years of creating it. The reason is that there are a few large companies with apps that already are known for searching for food and restaurants in an area and if I create an algorithm that is better and more popular than theirs, I am confident one of them would want to buy my idea and use it under their brand name. Some of the companies that might be interested are Yelp, Zomato, or maybe even Instagram themselves. I think this exit strategy would influence how I execute the app because I might make it compatible or similar-looking to one of these existing apps to peak their interest. Also this is one of the reasons I would want to make it an app and not just a website. I think this also might affect the segment that I market the app to to include users who have Zomato and Yelp already, as well as Instagram.
Hi, Emily! Good job on this final post! I think you've got a really interesting idea and it's been great to watch it grow and evolve throughout the semester! In this day and age, we're all about convenience. We're the "I want it and I want it now" culture. Your app would really cater to that "need" and I'm sure many people would be interested in it! Have a great summer!
ReplyDeleteHey Emily, great job on your post! I think that you're being very realistic in planning on selling your company to a larger pre existing company, and that it is a great idea. By making an app that could compete with those existing apps your company would be in a great spot to be competitive in the industry, and would definitely have the potential to steal users from those other companies.
ReplyDeleteHey Emily,
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your post. I agree with your exit strategy and I feel that you put a lot of thought and effort into what you want to do with your opportunity. I think you would do a good job of peaking your markets interest about local foods and ultimately your product could change the way people look for dining in general! Keep up the good work, almost finished!
Hey Emily, this is a great exit strategy. I have a similar exit strategy as you do and it’s great that you are thinking about bigger companies in the future you could sell the algorithm to. It is also great that you are thinking how to make them want your service with similarities in apps and trying to get shared customers.
ReplyDeleteHi Emily. Another amazing post. I think that it is a smart idea to eventually sell it. Apps are part of an industry that is constantly growing, so it is a smart idea to get out while you are on top. Great job with the post and the class in general.
