Napkin Idea No. 1
- My name is Emily Mintz and I'm a third year finance student at UF. One thing I really enjoy doing is traveling and experiencing new things. I have some experience working in the human resources department of a company as well as social media and advertising experience since I run an Instagram food blog, which I really enjoy doing. I see my business concept playing a significant role in my life because it would basically allow me to take my food blog to the next level and start an app that is based off of all major food blogs.
- The product I am offering is an app that allows people to search Instagram's archives for solely food pictures in order to find desirable food and restaurants in their specific area.
- I am offering this to everyone who looks online for restaurant suggestions, but more specifically my users will probably be people who are familiar with the vast amount of food that gets posted on Instagram and these people will also likely follow one or more food blogs themselves. Also, people who travel often would use my app.
- My customers will care because there is currently no way to search Instagram for only food pictures, which I, personally, find frustrating. Instagram which is the most reliable source of finding good food, in my opinion, since you can see great pictures of the food at these restaurants.
- What sets my app apart from others is the fact that it searches Instagram and narrows those down for only food pictures. Currently, you can search Instagram for pictures in your area but not solely food. Also, there are other apps that suggest restaurants in your area, but none of them search through Instagram.
I believe all of these aspects work well together because I have experience running a food blog on Instagram, so I know how that world works. I have personally experienced the problem I have described so I think I have the ability to solve it well. I think I would have a large customer base and I have the means to advertise the app to the 40,000 followers on my food blog. The only part that I am not sure about is that some people are probably content with using whatever app they currently use to find restautants, so I would have to sell them on trying out my app.
Hey Emily!
ReplyDeleteI think it's really cool how you see your business idea playing a large role in your life moving forward! Having a passion like that can really take you a long way, and your experiences in the social media and advertising field will certainly help your success. In terms of your business idea, I think that it could be extremely useful to not only students across the country, but pretty much anyone who searches for quality food in areas they've never visited. On getting people to try out your app, maybe you could cooperate with businesses in a certain area to give deals if they use your app, and maybe that will start things up!
Hi, Emily! Great job on your post! I started following your Instagram and absolutely love the puns that come with each post! I think this idea is a great one and I think it would help local businesses and tourists find each other - win/win! Like Drew said in his comment, it would be great if restaurants cooperated with you and your app to get the ball rolling. Have a great rest of the weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Emily, I just finished watching your pitch as well. All I can say is the pitch plus this completely sold me on the app. You need to make this immediately. I would love to have this app in my life especially now in college in Gainesville to be more specific.
ReplyDeleteHey Emily, I feel as though this app is perfect for since you have a food blog, love traveling and are an avid social media creator. This opportunity sounds like a great start for your entrepreneurship career and also a way to make a name for yourself in food media. I can’t wait to see this app in the app store.
