Bug List
- It bugs me when my phone breaks. This bug exists because it is too expensive to build phones that would be sturdy enough to not break eventually.
- It bugs me when my dog pees and poops in the house. This happens because is is difficult to potty train dogs.
- It bugs me when my socks get wet when it's raining. This happens because the shoes I wear aren't waterproof so the water seeps through.
- It bugs me when I lose cell phone reception while in the elevator in my apartment complex. This happens because the elevator doesn't allow for a strong signal because of how it's built.
- It bugs me when my clothes shrink after drying them. This happens because cotton shrinks when it is heated and therefore my clothes shrink.
- It bugs me when the weather changes and I don't have the appropriate clothing to go outside comfortably. This is because weather changes are unpredictable and I don't have time to prepare.
- It bugs me when my dogs and cat shed on me. This happens because their fur falls out.
- It bugs me when I get stains on my clothes and they don't come out. This happens because the fabric gets dyed by certain materials and a formula doesn't exist to get some things out.
- It bugs me that there is no crosswalk from my apartment building to the Publix across the street. This problem exists because there is no traffic light in that area.
- It bugs me that clothes become less soft as you wear them and wash them more. This is because the fabric doesn't hold up well over time.
- It bugs me that the parking garage in my apartment building has limited visibility and tight turns. This is because it was not constructed well.
- It bugs me that my phone battery dies faster as I've had the phone for a longer time. This happens because the batteries are not built to last more than 2 years and function as well.
- It bugs me that my hands and face get dirty while eating certain foods. This happens because certain foods have messy qualities.
- It bugs me when too much toothpaste comes out of the tube and onto my toothbrush. This exists because the opening of the toothpaste is too wide.
- It bugs me that the wifi in my building goes down sometimes so I can't be on my phone or do any work. This happens because the wifi system is not sufficient for the amount of people that live in my building.
- It bugs me when I brush my hair and hairs get everywhere. This happens because dead hairs fall out and my brush doesn't grab them.
- It bugs me that movie theaters sell food for very expensive prices. This happens because they have a monopoly over food sold in that theater so they can make the prices whatever they wish.
- It bugs me that bugs can easily get into households. This happens because doors/windows are left open or they are able to crawl up through drains.
- It bugs me that my scooter doesn't start after leaving it sitting for awhile. This happens because it needs to be turned on almost daily in order for it to remain intact.
- It bugs me that there is a lot of clean-up after cooking a meal. This happens because there are a lot of components needed to cook and they all get dirty in the process.
At first, I found creating this list to be challenging because there are so many little things that bug us. Most of these we usually do not even think about unless they are currently happening. After thinking of a few bugs, I found that it started to become easier to identify things that bug me everyday. I started walking myself through my day and thinking about everything I do, including small obstacles I encounter, and it led me to identify many small bugs in my life. After I thought of a few, I was surprised at how many those few led me to think of in the end. It was definitely a helpful exercise and got me thinking about my daily routine in an innovative way because now I am motivated to find solutions to all of these bugs.
Hi, Emily!
ReplyDeleteAll of your bugs bug me too! Wet socks, real bugs, messy food, parking garages - how fortunate we are these are just inconveniences and not life-threatening problems! And I did not know that scooters had to run every day in order for them to remain operational! Do you feel that they are a worthy buy? You put a lot of time and effort into this list and it shows! Great job!

Hi Emily,
ReplyDeleteAll your bugs seem to be very relatable and common inconveniences to most people. Bug number 4 is relatable because at my apartment I also do not get any cell service, and if I want to make a call I need to go out on the balcony. I saw that you said that the more things that you listed the easier it got to think of more, I felt the same way when I was making my list.
